Moen Flo smart water shutoff professionally installed on a main water line

The Moen Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff sits on your main cold line, watches pressure and flow continuously, detects leaks as small as a drop per minute, and shuts the water off automatically when something is wrong.

In a city where water is scarce and expensive, the second benefit matters as much as the first: you can finally see what your property actually uses, and where.

How it works

Our process

  1. Survey

Where the main line enters, pipe diameter, clearance, power and Wi-Fi coverage at that point.

  2. Isolation and cut-in

Water isolated and a section of pipe removed so the unit fits in line, downstream of meter and regulator.

  3. Installation

Unit fitted, connections pressure-tested, supply restored and joints checked.

  4. Commissioning

Wi-Fi connected, app set up, automatic shutoff run so you have seen it work.

  5. Handover

Alerts, the daily microleak test, and shutting off or restoring water from your phone.

What this means in San Diego

Water visibility is the San Diego argument. Rates here are high and conservation rules are real, and by far the most common invisible waste on a property is irrigation - a stuck valve or a broken drip line can run for weeks unnoticed. Seeing consumption daily turns that from a quarterly bill shock into something you catch immediately.

Leak damage is the other half. Slab-on-grade construction is common here, and a slab leak can run a very long time before it surfaces - at which point the repair means breaking concrete. Older properties with original galvanised supply lines are both the highest risk and the fastest payback.

To be clear about what it does not do: it protects against water escaping from your own pipes, fixtures and appliances. Water arriving from outside - a winter storm, a roof leak, runoff down a slope toward the house - is a different problem needing different measures. Moen's separate detectors can sense moisture from those sources and alert you, but the shutoff acts on your supply line only.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will it catch an irrigation leak?

That is one of the strongest reasons to fit one here. Irrigation waste is the most common invisible loss on a San Diego property, and daily consumption data makes it obvious quickly.

Can I install it myself?

Moen recommend a professional. It is fitted in line on the main supply, which means isolating the main and removing a section of pipe, and position relative to the meter and regulator matters.

Does it work if the Wi-Fi drops?

Yes. Wi-Fi is needed for alerts, but Moen state the unit stores recent learnings locally and keeps protecting the property until the connection returns.

Testimonials

Happy Clients

★★★★★

“We met with a few contractors and were very happy we went with TerraVenti. We had a great experience on a major extension and renovation of our house which included extending our master bedroom into the yard and renovating 3 bathrooms. Throughout the process, they were always available at a moments notice, incredibly reliable and communicated clearly. It can be a long and stressful process, but they were always there checking in each step of the way to make sure we were happy with the progress and the end result turned out beautifully.”
