“We met with a few contractors and were very happy we went with TerraVenti. We had a great experience on a major extension and renovation of our house which included extending our master bedroom into the yard and renovating 3 bathrooms. Throughout the process, they were always available at a moments notice, incredibly reliable and communicated clearly. It can be a long and stressful process, but they were always there checking in each step of the way to make sure we were happy with the progress and the end result turned out beautifully.”

Kitchen Remodeling in San Diego
Kitchens that open to the outside, in a climate where that works nearly every day of the year.
Free ConsultationThe best San Diego kitchens are not really indoor rooms. They open to a terrace, a pass-through or a garden, and the climate means that arrangement works most of the year rather than for six weeks in summer.
Getting there usually means structure. Widening an opening in an exterior wall removes bracing that has to be replaced, and a kitchen is already the most service-dense room in the house.

What this means in San Diego
The indoor-outdoor move is the one worth planning properly. A wide slider or a pass-through window to a counter outside changes how the whole house is used here - but it comes out of an exterior wall, which usually carries lateral bracing. Replacing that capacity is routine when designed in, and expensive when discovered.
An outdoor kitchen is a genuine option in this climate rather than a novelty, and it is far cheaper to run the services for one while the interior kitchen is already open than to retrofit later. Even roughing in a gas line and a circuit for a future build-out is worth considering.
Coastal properties should think about hardware. Within reach of the marine air, standard fittings and fixings corrode faster than owners expect - a specification question rather than a maintenance one.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can I open the kitchen to the garden?
Usually, and it is one of the best changes you can make here. The exterior wall likely provides bracing, so the opening needs engineering and a permit.
Is an outdoor kitchen worth it?
In this climate it gets used, which is not true in most of the country. The cheapest moment to run services for one is while the indoor kitchen is already opened up.
Will I need a panel upgrade?
Often, in older stock. We assess capacity during design rather than discovering it at rough-in.
