“They were very professional, on time, and followed up with everything. Everyone in the office was polite and the customer service was excellent. They have very skilled craftsmen and a designer on staff with great attention to detail. My project was done on time, within budget, and the quality of their work is outstanding. A very important side note was that the crew kept everything clean during the project. The end result looks fantastic and I have a beautiful, high-end kitchen.”

Interior Remodeling in San Diego
Opening up older San Diego homes, with the structural and systems work done properly.
Free ConsultationA great deal of San Diego housing stock was built between the 1950s and the 1980s, in compartmented plans with small windows that ignore the one thing this city has in abundance: pleasant weather and good light.
Most interior remodels here are about correcting that - opening the plan, enlarging openings toward the garden, and bringing the systems up to a standard the house never had.

What this means in San Diego
The interesting structural question here is usually the exterior wall rather than an interior one. Replacing a small window with a wide slider onto the garden is the most requested change we see, and it removes a chunk of shear wall - so the bracing has to be made up elsewhere, sometimes with a moment frame and additional foundation work. Entirely doable, and much cheaper to plan than to discover.
Older stock brings the usual services questions - ungrounded wiring, galvanised supply lines, undersized panels - and once walls are open the case for dealing with them is strong. Coastal properties add corrosion to the list: fixings, fasteners and anything ferrous near an opening age faster within reach of the marine air.
The mild climate is an opportunity most remodels underuse. With very little heating or cooling load, cross-ventilation and daylight can do work that mechanical systems do elsewhere - which means window placement and operable openings deserve more thought than they usually get.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can I replace this window with a slider?
Often, but exterior walls usually carry lateral bracing, so a wide opening means replacing that capacity elsewhere. We establish what the wall is doing before quoting the change.
Should I rewire and repipe while you are in there?
If the house is older stock and the walls are open, almost always. Doing it later means opening the same walls twice.
Will the remodel trigger Title 24 upgrades?
Above certain scopes, yes. We identify which apply during assessment so they are budgeted rather than discovered.
