Painting in Fort Lauderdale

Interior and exterior painting with coatings specified for coastal humidity, UV and salt-laden air.

Paint in South Florida has a harder job than paint almost anywhere else. Relentless UV, heat, humidity that never really lets go, and salt carried inland on the wind - all working on the same surface at once.

Which is why exterior paintwork here fails early far more often than it wears out. The determining factors are preparation and product selection, not the number of coats.

How it works

Our process

  1. Assessment

We look at what the existing finish is doing - chalking, blistering, cracking - because the failure mode tells you what the surface actually needs.

  2. Preparation

Washing, scraping, crack repair and patching. This is where the durability comes from, and where cheap jobs cut.

  3. Priming

Primer and sealer matched to the substrate, particularly on stucco and previously failed surfaces.

  4. Application

Coatings applied at the specified thickness in suitable conditions, not rushed through weather that will spoil them.

  5. Inspection

Walked and reviewed against a snag list before we call it finished.

Options

Coating systems we specify

Standard acrylic exterior

The right answer on sound stucco with no significant movement, at the most economical cost.

Elastomeric coatings

Bridges hairline movement cracking on stucco. Powerful when the wall is dry and prepared, actively harmful when it is not.

Mildew-resistant interior systems

For bathrooms, laundries and any room fighting humidity, paired with ventilation that actually works.

Cabinet & millwork finishing

Sprayed finishes on cabinetry and joinery, which is a different discipline from wall painting.

What this means in Fort Lauderdale

Stucco is the dominant exterior substrate around Fort Lauderdale, and it moves and cracks. Hairline cracking is normal; painting over it without repair simply hides an entry point for wind-driven rain, which then pushes moisture into the wall and lifts the new coating from behind. Crack repair and the right sealer are the difference between a finish that lasts and one that blisters in a couple of seasons.

Humidity governs the interior work too. Bathrooms, laundries and any room that runs air-conditioned against heavy outdoor moisture need mildew-resistant systems, and they need adequate ventilation or no coating will save them. Timing matters as well: applying coatings in the wrong conditions, or too close to afternoon storms in the wet season, compromises cure and adhesion whatever the product.

One practical point - many Fort Lauderdale communities operate architectural review with approved colour palettes. Worth confirming before you commit to a colour, and we will flag it if your property is in one.

Questions

Frequently asked

How often will exteriors need repainting here?

Sooner than in a milder climate, and it varies a great deal with exposure - a west-facing waterfront elevation weathers far faster than a shaded inland one. Preparation and product quality make more difference to that interval than anything else.

Is elastomeric coating worth it?

On stucco with movement cracking it often is, because it bridges hairline cracks. It is not a universal answer: applied over a surface with trapped moisture it can make matters worse. It depends on what the wall is doing.

Do you repair cracks before painting?

Yes, and we would not quote a job that skipped it. Painting over cracked stucco is the single most common reason exterior work in this climate fails early.

Testimonials

Happy Clients

★★★★★

“They are an amazing construction company. They gutted and redesigned my entire kitchen, created an island, opened up the space to the living room and the entire front of the house. My house looks completely different and much, much more inviting. They make great suggestions. They stayed within the budget and even gave more than what was originally discussed for the price. They have an awesome team, and they are reasonably priced AND ON TIME with the schedule. And, they were always available to discuss any questions, and so on. I will not go anywhere else for my construction needs.”
